Privacy Policy

Want this in plain language instead? How your data works explains the same thing in one page without the legal wording.

1. Overview

Clever Dispute (“we,” “us,” or “our”) explains here what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

2. Information We Collect

Email address: We collect your email address only when you voluntarily provide it, for example by creating an account, joining the waitlist, or contacting support. No email is required to use the bill analyzer.

Codes and amounts you type in: When you enter line items manually, they are compared against our local copy of the CMS national Medicare pricing file to generate your results. They are processed in that single request and are not written to any database or file we control.

Bill images and PDFs you upload: The product flow requires an affirmative consent step before a bill document is processed. To read the text off the page, the document is transmitted to our optical-character-recognition provider (OpenRouter, which routes the request to a vision model; Google Gemini is used as a fallback). We do not store the document or the extracted text after the request completes. Their handling of the data in transit is governed by their own policies, which we link from our security page. If you prefer that no third party receive the document, enter your line items manually instead, which produces the same analysis.

Purchase records: Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card details. When a purchase completes, a signed cookie is set on your browser containing the product purchased, an expiry date, and the Stripe session reference. It contains no medical information.

Please do not email or chat us medical files.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the bill analysis and dispute letter generation service
  • To send account, product, or support updates you requested
  • To communicate with you about your account or support requests
  • To improve the service through aggregated, anonymized usage data

4. Analytics

We use privacy-preserving analytics to understand how visitors use the site. This data is aggregated and anonymized and is not tied to your bill contents. You can opt out using browser extensions like uBlock Origin or your browser's privacy settings.

5. Data Sharing and Sale

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We share data with service providers only to the extent necessary to operate the service: our hosting provider, our payment processor, and the OCR provider described in section 2.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies to maintain site functionality and to remember a completed purchase for 60 days on the browser used to buy. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising.

7. Data Retention

We retain email addresses provided for account, update, or support purposes until you request deletion. We do not retain the codes, amounts, images, or PDFs you submit to the analyzer: they are processed during the request and are not written to a database or file on our side, which also means we cannot retrieve a past analysis for you. Save or print your results before leaving the page. The purchase cookie described in section 2 expires 60 days after purchase and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.

9. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The updated date appears at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
